Attention Psychics! Broadway's Blithe Spirit Wants YOU

Psychics wanted: That’s the message from the producers of the forthcoming Broadway revival of Blithe Spirit, who have announced auditions for a real-life psychic or medium to work closely with the cast on making the play’s onstage seance as realistic as possible. In a two-minute audition to be held on January 22 at Sardi’s, would-be Broadway consultants will be asked to conjure the spirit of Noel Coward or otherwise display their psychic abilities.

According to a press release, several pros have already signed up to audition: a psychic sexologist, a psychic who has been featured in Time Out New York as one of the best in the city, a medium who has worked closely with the FBI to help solve murder cases, and others with experience conjuring deceased performers and politicians. The winning psychic will receive an official consulting credit in the Blithe Spirit Playbill.

Interested parties are being asked to e-mail their name and resume to blithespiritcasting@gmail.com. Auditionees are not confirmed until they received a confirmation e-mail. No word on whether Angela Lansbury, who stars at Madame Arkati in Blithe Spirit, will be one of the judges.

Blithe Spirit will begin performances on February 26 at the Shubert Theatre and open on March 15, directed by Michael Blakemore. In addition to Lansbury, the play will star Rupert Everett, Christine Ebersole, Jayne Atkinson, Simon Jones and Deborah Rush.
